Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The Chinese-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce (“the Chamber”, “we”) is a membership organisation that promotes trade, investment and business cooperation between China and North Macedonia. The Chamber is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.

For any question about this policy or your personal data, contact us at info.chinesemacedoniancc@gmail.com.

2. What data we process

We only process personal data that you give us, or that is needed to run this website:

  • Membership applications: company name, country, contact person, position, email, phone, sector, preferred membership plan and the description you write. The form on this website does not store anything itself — it opens your own email app with a pre-filled message, which you then send to us.
  • Emails and phone calls: your name, contact details and anything you choose to include when you contact us.
  • Members and business contacts: contact details of member companies’ representatives and of partners we work with, used to run the membership and organise activities.
  • Events: name, company and contact details of participants who register for or attend a Chamber event.
  • Technical data: when you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type, in order to deliver the pages and protect the site against abuse.

We do not collect sensitive data (such as data about health or political opinions), and we do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. Why we use your data and on what legal basis

We use personal data only for the following purposes:

  • To answer your enquiries and process your membership application — steps taken at your request before membership begins, and your consent given in the form.
  • To manage your membership and inform you about Chamber activities and events — the membership relationship and our legitimate interest.
  • To keep the website secure and working — our legitimate interest.
  • To keep records where the law requires it — compliance with a legal obligation.

4. Who we share data with

We never sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need in order to operate:

  • Google (Gmail) — our email inbox, where membership applications and messages are received.
  • Cloudflare — hosting and delivery of this website, including the technical data described above.
  • Your own email provider — which handles the message when you send us an application or an email.

Some of these providers may process data outside North Macedonia; where this happens, it is done under the safeguards required by law. If you ask us for a business introduction, we share your contact details with the relevant partner only with your agreement.

5. Cookies and tracking

This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading the site does not contact third-party font or tracking services. The links to Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, and the featured video, take you to those platforms only when you click them; from that point on, their own privacy policies apply.

6. How long we keep data

We keep personal data only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for — for example, for the duration of a membership, or until an enquiry or application has been dealt with — and longer only where the law requires it. Applications that do not lead to membership are deleted once they are no longer needed.

7. Security

This website is served only over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and access to members’ and applicants’ data is limited to the people within the Chamber who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

8. Your rights

Under the Law on Personal Data Protection of the Republic of North Macedonia, which is aligned with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data deleted;
  • restrict or object to its processing, including for direct marketing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before the withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, write to info.chinesemacedoniancc@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia (azlp.mk), or with the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.

9. Other websites

This policy covers only this website. Partner websites and social media platforms that we link to have their own privacy policies.

10. Children

Our services are intended for businesses and professionals, not for children, and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal data.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our services or the way we process data change. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
